October Newsletter #2

Hi Everyone!

Great week – Volunteer Meeting, Soul Food coming up and a very exciting announcement….

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to the Volunteer Welcome meeting on Wednesday! It was great to meet so many lovely people who want to give their time to such a fantastic cause!

A reminder for everyone who wants to be involved in cooking.. you need to sign up on the website and do the Health and Safety Quiz before you can cook with us. This is also where I’ll be sending the newsletters and rotas out from so its quite important you sign up even if you don’t want to attend a cooking session!

  • To do this go to http://www.foodcycle.org.uk
  • On the top of the page there will be a little headline saying volunteer, and do the test and fill in the details
  • Once you have done this, you will be able to access all the bits and pieces on the foodcycle website, such as the rota!

If you have a bit of spare time this weekend, our fundraising team is looking for people who have a bit of time to spare  over the weekend to put up a few posters around Bath. Alexa has a list of specific places we haven’t postered yet so if you are able to help out  please give drop us an email at bathfoodcycle@gmail.com

Exciting Announcement…

After weeks of hard work from many people in the team and in particular, our community outreach leader, Phil, we have agreed to start cooking at St Mary’s Church on Julian Road as a three week trial! This is a fantastic development and I know many of us can’t wait to get cooking!

The sessions will run on a Wednesday with exact timings to be announced with the rota at the end of October. I anticipate quite a high demand for these spaces and we have to limit the number of cooking spots each week so If you are interested in attending these sessions, keep an eye out for our next newsletter and put your name on the rota quickly!

Soul Food is a week away!

Final Note

It was lovely to meet everyone on Wednesday and I hope to see you all soon! We are always looking for people to get involved with Foodcycle so if you would like to get more involved with co-ordination behind the scenes, drop me an email at bathfoodcycle@gmail.com and let me know what your area of interest would be. Whether you would like to work with the community outreach team, get involved with driving recruitment with me or if you have a suggestion or idea, we would love to hear from you!

Have a fantastic weekend and I hope to see you all at Soul Food!
