Vote for us on My Favourite Voucher Codes this September!

This month you can help Foodcycle to win 20% of the profits from online voucher code company My Favourite Voucher Codes by voting in their September charity poll! Every month they choose 3 charities to compete for the donation and the one with the most votes wins. You can vote quickly and easily online for free, but if you do choose to use any vouchers then you are automatically adding to the donation amount, whilst saving money on your online shop.

My Favourite Voucher Codes is an online voucher code company based in Bath, who give online shoppers the most up to date vouchers and offers for famous high street brands such as Debenhams and Argos. They provide a range of offers and vouchers from thousands of online and high street companies, from big supermarkets such as Sainsburys and Tesco to smaller retailers and even charity shops. Since 2012 they have donated over £53,000 to a variety of charities around the UK who have competed in their monthly charity polls.

It’s free to vote! – All you need to do to show your support for FoodCycle is visit the My Favourite Voucher Codes homepage and you will see the poll on the right-hand side (or near the bottom of the page if on a mobile device). It’s completely free and there is no need to sign up or use any vouchers in order to vote – simply click your chosen charity!

This donation would mean that our Bath project could continue to provide delicious meals to the local community and help people who are in need, or just want a nice hot meal. We appreciate every vote, and thank you all for your support!

Bath’s Flippin’ Pancake Race 2016

On Shrove Tuesday – 9th February – Bath’s Flippin’ Pancake Race took place in the square next to the Abbey. Teams of four, comprised of businesses, students and organisations competed for the coveted golden frying pan. Runners were required to flip their pancake five times during their run – no mean feat!

Our very own Fiona competed in a team with the Volunteer Centre – with a catchy name of Saltford Slipper Flippers! – and although they didn’t win the overall prize, they definitely won best dressed team!

After fiercely competitive races the eventual winners were Team Dubai from Bath College. Many congratulations!

The event raised funds for our hub, ensuring that we can continue to tackle food waste and food poverty in the local community. The total raised was an incredible £228.31!

A huge FoodCycle thank you to everyone who organised, took part, donated and spectated!

Congratulations to Fringe Arts Bath for making such a brilliant event happen.

Bath Christmas Market 2015

On Tuesday 8th December 2015 and for one day only we had a stall at the Bath Christmas Market to raise funds for our hub!

Our volunteers prepared by baking reindeer cakes and biscuits, making bracelets and keyrings, sewing bunting and aprons, making stands to display our items, writing chalkboards and many other tasks!

The magnificent grand total raised was….. £376.59!

That money will help our hub to provide healthy meals from surplus food for those in need in our local community for another year!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it happen – festive bakers, bunting makers, stall helpers! You can be very pleased with what you managed to do with the opportunity given to us by the market!

And a massive thank you if you visited our stall and bought items or donated!

Hopefully we’ll see you again next year – better than ever!

Great Bath Bake Sale 2015

On Saturday 3rd October 2015 FoodCycle Bath were invited to take part in the Great Bath Bake Sale at Bath Abbey. The event was created in order to raise funds for the Abbey Footprint project that aims to save the floor from collapse and modernise facilities for visitors. All proceeds raised from the Bake Sale went to the Footprint project, Bath FoodCycle and FareShare SouthWest.

We had a full day of baking the day before at our usual location in the kitchen at St. Mary’s. Carol – our very own star baker – lead the effort with the help of various wonderful volunteers who spared a few hours or stayed the whole day.

We managed to bake quite a variety and quantity of cakes that proved very popular – Banana muffins, courgette cake, date & walnut, lemon drizzle, yoghurt semolina & rose water squares, zebra cake, fruit tart, gluten-free chocolate brownies, pineapple fruit cake, white chocolate & passion fruit loaf, apple slices, flower power cake and more … phew!

Is it possible to have too many cakes?
Of course not! “All caked out” is not a phrase in our vocabulary!

A ginormous thank you to all of our volunteer bakers and those who helped run the stall!
