Vegmead Week – On The Menu – 10th August

2016-08-10

We had an extra-special week at FoodCycle as we first met at Vegmead Community Garden just around the corner to harvest fruit and vegetables for use in our meal.

Vegmead is a circular community food growing plot in Hedgemead Park just opposite the roundabout at the top of Walcot Street.

We collected potatoes, runner beans, blackcurrants, courgettes, salad leaves and edible flowers!

The evening was in order to highlight that Vegmead is currently under threat of being removed from its current location by the council. There is now a campaign to save it by the newly formed Vegmead Community Group.

You can send in your thoughts on Vegmead and what it means to you on the ‘Save Vegmead’ page on their new website over at https://vegmead.wordpress.com/
These will be collected to highlight the importance of keeping the site running!

If you’d like to get involved with Vegmead or the campaign to save it, do send them a message via their website or their social media channels on Twitter or Facebook (@vegmead).

Main: Don’t Veg Your Bets Moussaka (Veg Moussaka with Coleslaw and Salad).
